IHMC felt deeply grateful to be joined by sisters of Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows, guests, well-wishing parents and friends at the 39th Graduation and Prize-giving Ceremony on 17 July. In particular, we were overjoyed to have our alumnus Dr Chan Yau-kei, Joseph to be the officiator.

Dr Chan spent his years at IHMK, IHMS, and IHMC before being admitted to the University of Hong Kong, where he is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine. Furthermore, Dr Chan is dedicated to his service as the Vice-Chairman of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Alumni Association.

The ceremony began with hymn singing and Bible reading, followed by the welcoming address from our supervisor Sister Lucy Chung. In her speech, she mentioned the role of the alumni and how fruitful it could be when the school and the Alumni Association could work together. After presenting leaving certificates, Dr Chan in his address shared his experience in the path to realise a goal. There were four attributes in the process. They were goal, interest, determination to strive for excellence, and self-discipline. Listening to live examples given, everyone found Dr Chan’ s address very inspiring.

In closing, all graduates showed a video of their own as the flashback of their six years spent happily on campus.
